happy anniversary!!

To my tri-buddy Shannon!! It was one year ago today that she BEAT her Kona-qualifying husband in a marathon! In August, Mr. Kona-qualifier's best Ironman time was beat by another local fellow so to keep Mr. Kona-qualifier motivated, Shannon bought the finishing picture, with the time above, of the other guy and hung in on their fridge! THAT was a good one!!!
Anyway, back to me, did my bike ride this morning. AND my core workout. At the triathlon soire on Saturday night, one of the gals there was telling me she does her core workouts in time intervals...do the excercise for 45 seconds or a minute with 15-20 seconds rest. This works WAY better as I was always doing them by reps and then stopping and then daydreaming and then fiddling with my watch or my iPod...so if you just get down and watch the clock, the time goes by pretty quick AND you get the entire workout in! Who knew?
In other news, Coach Justin has been encouraging me to find some shorter races to do. 5km and 10km runs. He says "Enter them ALL!!!" So I was checking out the local running club website and lo and behold, they are starting a 5km Race Series in January. Every second Monday of the month they are holding a timed 5km race, and posting the results on the website every month. I told Justin about it and he got super excited....the most excited he has ever got...and told me FOR SURE enter those. So off I go to pretend I am a runner starting in January. Me thinks I am going to have to put my ego aside and be okay with dead last place!
