After a horrible sleep and up way too early with my youngest one, I made it to the pool today. We did a warm up and about half way through the warm-up I looked at the board and there was 1500 meter TT written down. I had jumped into lane 8 as that is where I have been swimming all winter. Granted I have to bust it, to keep up there, but I DO keep up!! The coach told me to move down into lane 7. Not happy, was I. I wanted to get in behind those fast guys and put down a solid swim!! But then it is all about perspective and working the situation so it works for you...right? So down into lane 7 I go, a little pissed and immediately tell the boys there "I'm leaving on the next red top." Or in other words "I'm leading." Snotty? Bitchy? Too aggressive? Don't care!!! I wanted a good swim today. When it was all told, came in at 22:47. Pretty happy with that. Did the first 100 on 1:23 and held (right around) 1:30s the entire way. Ran into lots of traffic the last 250 meters but nice and steady and exactly what I wanted to do. Interestingly, I find out afterwards, the guys in lane 8 did the 1500 as a pack swim...they took turns leading each 100. So would get a rest for 10-15 secs each 300 meters. And combined, they did their 1500 in 22:30. HOO RAH!!
(And I claim I am not that competitive...hee hee hee!!!)

Great swimming KB. I wanted to draft in that lane but was moved down and had to lead it.
Just to let it be known to all blog readers, Kelly has made a promise on two different occasions after swimming. She has agreed that if she qualifies for IMC at Stony, she WILL take the spot!!
Go Kelly!!
oh hell ya!!! she better take the spot!!! :) GREAT solid swim!!!
Wow. Fabulous swim!
How many lanes does your group take up? Given the time differences between lane 7 and 8, I should seed myself in lane about minus 3 or so. That or get my ego kicked right out of the pool.
great time!! way to kick some shark butt!
Let's just be clear...the dear fellow who wants to qualify and talked me into the promise is an amazing athlete. He is a legend around these parts. It was more of a joke than anything but if a miracle happens and the triathlon gods have sense of humor and I somehow pulled something like that out of my ass...see y'all at the start line in Penticton!!!
