on the mend...

My poor little Luke! Gosh darn that kid was sick! We did in fact make a trip to see a doctor because the mom's guilt was overtaking me...maybe it is something else, maybe he has something more serious, maybe I have no idea about what is going around right now and he needs drugs...paranoia. But a trooper...his little eyes were so tired yesterday and he would not lay down for a nap, scared he was going to miss something, I did the bad thing and gave him some night time cough syrup...in the middle of the afternoon...he slept for a solid 2 hours!! Felt 100% better and was so much happier and more himself. And FINALLY slept the entire night last night...and with no drugs, so all is well in our house again.
It was a gorgeous day yesterday. We spent the entire afternoon in the backyard playing soccer, golf, on the swing set, and I got our apple tree trimmed down so it no longer looks like it is having a nervous breakdown. Took me the majority of the afternoon. And just when you think you are getting fit, grab a saw, work away at some stubborn branches, climb up and down a step ladder in the sunshine. Worked some different muscles yesterday!
Also got out to my 5km monthly timed run. I soooo did not feel like going. I was very tired and just wanted to lay on the couch. Being up two nights in a row with sick child makes the next several days tough. But decided no matter, a run on an evening like this would be good even to just move the legs. It was plus 20 when I left the house!! Can't waste a night like that. There were so many people down by the river. Was great to see!! I went out way too fast for the first half...a couple of tri-ladies showed up and I thought for sure I could hang with them...not so!! They kicked me (and my ego) to the curb pretty darn quickly. Hung on for dear life for the last half...seriously, I checked my HR at one point and it was sneaking up to 180!! I have never ran that fast for so long in my life!! I even felt sick when I was done, and could not stop coughing or sneezing. But the good news I came in at 25:21!! WOW!!! A brand new 5km PR.
