a fun swim

Got an e-mail yesterday from a tri-friend...the tri-friend coached by the same coach as CRAIG ALEXANDER...yeah, that one!! She was looking for some company in the pool today. So I dragged my sorry arse out of bed at 5:00am, had some breakfast, did my stretches and headed down to the local YWCA. I don't think I have been in that pool since I was a kid. I remember we used to run around the bridges, University bridge to the Broadway bridge and back to the YWCA and then do our swim workout. Them were the days.
Anyway, we did a Nick White (CRAIG ALEXANDER'S COACH) special. (Can you tell I am totally dropping this name whenever I can...?) A 200 warm-up, 200 kick and then 6 times 200 freestyle (I did about half of them IM) and then a 200 warm down. The pool was really warm...I mean really warm....the hot tub/whirlpool is off to the side but still drains into the big pool!! I think the workout was actually supposed to be well over 2000 meters but we were chatting and catching up. And the pool does not open now until 6:15 (we thought and the website said 6:00am) so we only had 45 minutes. But I can feel it in my arms and shoulders that I have not been in the pool for several weeks. Was a fun morning!!

Talked to Justin today and nope, he gives all the credit to Nick White. Justin's part was "only" helping out in the wind tunnel...he did many rides, apparently, with the guy with the fastest bike split. Says Craig...we are on a first name basis now...is the most humble and hard working people on the planet. He worked his tail off this past year for one goal....
