shitty run

Yeah.
You know those runs where the birds are singing and the sun is shining and you feel light and it is easy and you are going fast and everything is clicking?
This WAS NOT one of those runs.
Up and at it early. Out the door in good time. Had 4 x 8 minutes to do. No problem. Started the warm up and knew right away my legs were not happy to be out of bed. Heavy. Slow. Slippery. Breathing was labored...in the warm up!
Drat!
But I had to get this workout done so lets see what they think for the first 8 minutes. The legs were okay. They picked up their mood and the first 8 minutes were good. The second 8 minutes were also pretty good....maybe I will just run my way out of these heavy legs!! Then I turned onto a side street that I have ran a million times and it had snowed a bit yesterday and the footing was kind of crappy. It was that snow that is like running in sand. It has not been super cold that makes the snow really hard, it was soft and just enough to really slow you down. Normally I would just run in the middle of the road but there was quite a bit of traffic today!! What the hell are all these people doing up so early an interupting MY interval run!!?? So the 3rd and 4th one were not all that fun and Gary Garmin told me I was super slow for those as well. Oh well. Can't have them all be good!! As Coach Justin says "Tough training runs make race day easier..."
Happy Friday!!

That soft snow is the total shits to run in. But I console myself that it's the closest thing to running in soft sand, which is supposed to be very good for you. The only problem is that most people run barefoot in soft sand....

Way to hang in there and chug through a tough run.

I thought the footing might suck so I did my run on the treadmill. It still sucked....lol and now I cant keep my eyes open! I have to re adjust to morning workouts. I have gotten soft.

I call BS on the "shitty run"!

You pulled y'er arse outta the bed early this morning, braved the cold and shitty footy, and banged out your intervals.

How many people can claim to have done that this morning?

Not me...I was a lazy shit and slept in.

Great point Shannon! The great northern outdoors is no place for speed work in the winter. But you do gain all kinds of strength, balance and mental fortitude on those shitty roads and trails!

Thing is I rarely have a shitty run, but my swim today well apparently I didn't swim hard enough since I wrote in my blog. hee hee So can we possibly trade one week? Maybe one day I have one of those killer Chuckie workouts? I'll rock the swim and suck on the run, you swimmer folks can have your run!! But just for the day cause come race day I'll want it all!!!! muah ha ha ha :)

Seriously though Kelly I agree with the others pat yourself on the back you got the work done.

I agree with Shannon -- that was NOT a shitty run! The run was awesome -- it was the conditions that were shitty.

You could have bailed on the run and you didn't. You got it done!! :) :) :)
