New Year's Day brought a run. It was minus 41 with the wind so...onto the treadmill I went. The workout was 5 x 5 minutes tempo run but I could not figure the pace out on the tready so I just went by heart rate. I ended up doing 6 as I had the time and the Outdoor Classic (hockey) was on the television so was kind of into it!! I didn't feel like I had done a very good job of the intervals...I don't know if it was being on the treadmill or what, but I got to the end and thought I should have felt those in my legs much more than what I did.
So.
I did it again.
This time Saturday morning, and outside! Coach Justin says to try to hold a 5:30 per km pace for all 5 intervals...I did 5 of them all just under 5:20...except the sixth one but it was the last one so I can give myself a bit of a break...no? The run ended up being about an hour and 20 minutes as I was way the hell away from home and realized, oh crap, I have to run home! And it was cold. And my gear was frozen to my body. And I stopped into the Mac's to grab a coffee as it is less than a block from our house and the gal behind the counter said "OH MY GOD!! You have icicles hanging from your hat!!! GROSSSS!!!" Nice.
Today was a swim. Was a bit of a gong show swim. No coach and we made up a workout. I don't even really remember what it was but it was around 2500 meters. Was a fun time with lots of laughs and I am so happy that Tish and Jenn are swimming in my lane!! They make it fun and we have lots of giggles. My body was tired from those hard runs and I even did some push ups yesterday so my arms and shoulders were sore.
Looking forward, back to work/school/hockey/TKD/schedule etc tomorrow. I have a super clean house and cupboards full of groceries so we are good to go, for a few weeks anyway.
Some great news...Planned training hours for the week were 6:15 and my actual hours 6:16. Finally!! I did one extra minute!! Whoop whoop!!!
PS: Just got an e-mail from Coach Justin...he biked another 5 hours today with the big man L.A. He is SO excited to be doing some training with Mr. Armstrong. Do you blame him?

Hey SUPERSTAR - you didn't tell us if you did those pushups on your knees? LOL. Yes, that swim was a gong show. I drank lots of water too. In fact, I kinda feel like I need to puke up a wave. Good job with your runs and going OVERTIME!!
:) And hey, Congrats on Boston!!
Kelly + pushups = on knees
Everytime.
Better to have icicles hanging from your hat, than from your nose hairs. I know this from experience.
Great intervals, and congrats on going overtime on plan!!! Yes, swimming with Jen and Tisha is fun.
PS, I do lots of pushups from my knees as well.
What about Boston? I start swimming with a group next week for the first time,,,no idea what to expect.Any suggestions?
I am so excited about your new journey to Boston!!! :) :) :) :)
You know what I can't stand? The ice balls that form on my eyelashes sometimes -- they get bigger and bigger until I have to take off my mitt and squeeze them until they melt and I can see again. Hahahahahahahahaha!
