5km race day

Yep.
Did what I was told not to do.
Don't run the 5km race today as you will be tired from the 10km run yesterday. Too bad. I'm the only one who knows this body and I was a bit bummed about my run yesterday so I made it to the 5km race with the attitude, let's just see how it goes. Jenna and Alex were there so I could always run with them and chit chat!
Started out feeling pretty darn stiff with tired legs. Pay no attention. Just run. Pretty quickly, I was all by myself with no one really ahead of me and nobody behind me. Right after the half way mark, legs started to feel not too bad...so ran a little harder...and then a little harder...and still a bit harder...ended up running a whopping 17 seconds faster than my January run!! I had eaten way too close to the run and thought I was going to puke the entire way...not kidding here...I was trying to take my mind as far away from my guts as possible...and even walked a good way up the path away from everyone at the finish thinking if I barf, hopefully no one will see...was doing the whole "just swallow hard...do not come up...think about something else..." Love this sport!!!
