Last post for a few days as we are heading up to the lake this afternoon for the weekend. Did my bike workout, on the trainer as the sky was looking a bit gloomy and it had rained and blown all night. Good choice as it did start to rain pretty hard about 20 minutes into the workout. Came up with 8 things I need to figure out...you know, time on your bike, by yourself...makes you think about things!!
1. There are two transitions at Stony Plain? Really? How does that work? Hopefully some kind soul will walk me through all that the day before!!
2. Didn't WonderWoman have something she carried with her? Was it a whip? I need one for my costume for IMC. And I am going to spray paint it gold!! Just for effect.
3. I need to find someone who can show me how to use that whip properly before August.
4. When is the deadline to use my Aeroplan miles? I need to find this out. I really (really) want to go to New York City.
5. What should I do after this half ironman? I am leaning towards the marathon in Regina in the fall. Why not? The half marathon for sure.
6. Where should I do my first full Ironman? Penticton is the obvious choice but some other exotic location would be kind of fun!! Like Europe or how about Australia? There is one in China now...
7. Back to the costume...I want to find someone out in Penticton that could do my hair up in a bee hive...with the little gold starred tiarra thing she wore...kind of my own version of WW!!
8. Why do people hurt their children? My deepest thoughts for the day....have been following a news story that made me physically ill the other day. I just don't understand.
Our lives are inspired by the dreams we have from the earliest stages of our youth. When you combine passion and hard work, then success is always possible. While no road is every straight, dedication and persistence will always lead you to your dreams.

well now...i think i can help with a couple of these items.
GWN: there is a swim/bike transition at allen beach resort. you'll put your bike there the night before, or bring it the next morning. you will be assigned a spot by your race number, so no need to worry about getting a 'great' spot.
in your race package you will be given two bags. one will be at your bike and when you get out of the swim, you'll put all your wet gear in there - it will be brought to T2 after the swim is finished. the other bag will have all your running stuff and you'll put that on a truck. it'll have your race number on it and they'll bring it to T2 early on. you finish the bike at T2 and when you get there all your run stuff will be there for you!
when you are finished your run everything will be at T2 - so you don't have to go back to T1 for anything.
WW: uh, wonder woman had a lasso. can't show you how to work it, but if you find a cute cowboy to show you, i'll take lessons too. haha.
IM #2: if you want to stay relatively local, i highly recommend IMCDA. great course and better for spectators. of course i love IMC too. depends on the type of course you like. i'm looking at doing IM germany in 2010.
Marathon/Half Marathon: best pick is Victoria at Thanksgiving!
I have only ever done IMC -- but the thing that I like about it, is that it if anything goes wrong, medically, you are in your own country -- you know?
I never gave this much thought until my second IM, where I had a seizure and had to be brought by ambulance to the hospital... just something to keep in mind.
I have maps and stuff for GWN. I'd be happy to meet you for coffee when you're back to go over the course - I think I have pictures to accompany the map too! You can P.M. me on the STCI site (user amg) if you're interested.
