Got all my race stuff yesterday for Boston.
This is kind of a big deal.
I knew that before, but yesterday I had to just sit at the kitchen table for a few minutes and hold the booklet and the package pick up card in my hands and just look at them. What was funny was that both boys sensed something was up and one stood on each side of me and looked at the pick up card with me...Matthew (age 7) says "Mom...that's your Boston stuff!!" He also asked me the other day if Boston was out of Canada....so we had to find it on a map etc. I am really happy they are coming with me.
I am running the Boston Marathon in THREE Weeks!! HOLY SHIT!!!
I read the race instructions cover to cover...yeah they are about 30 pages long!! Who knew you weren't allowed to run back onto the course? Who would want to? There were maps of the start line, the course, the expo the finish line. I guess when you have been doing this for 114 years, you get it all figured out! Someone told me it will take over an hour to get through the finish line. Luckily, our hotel is right there...as in Shaun and the kids literally come out of the front doors of the hotel, find the bleachers and watch the finish!! Thank-you John Hancock for making my day a no-brainer.
They have organized a meal the night before, so we don't have to eat with the 26000 other runners...I have never ever liked those night before pasta dinners...we will have nice dinner with the 19 other peeps who took these corporate spots. They have organized a bus for us, so again, we just have to jump on the bus, head out to the start line where there is food and drinks and coffee and a heated tent for us to hang in until the start!!
This truly is going to be the experience of a lifetime. And I am going to meet some pretty amazing people while I am there. I am so excited and the countdown is on!!

3 more weeks wow, I'm so excited for you Kelly! It will be such an incredible experience and it's great that you get to share it with Sean and the boys. We'll be thinking about you... : )

YAY!!!! I LOVE the organization -- not having to worry about getting to the race, the hotel right at the finish line, and the private dinner. I HATE those communal dinners too -- I go out of my way to avoid them. Even if that means I miss the pre-race meeting.
Yeah this will be way better than the average joe expereince - I mean a heated tent!!! Come on, I bet you have your own bathrooms too!! Kelly - lick it up like the last morsels of chocolate cake on a plate - cause sometimes life doesn't give you seconds!!!!
