other stuff going on...

Believe it or not but I have a whole life outside of triathlons!!
It's true!!
These are some of the other things I have been up to:
  • Getting ready for my kids to go to school. Matthew in grade one is so excited because this year he get's a desk...his very own desk! Adios to Kindergarten where they all sat at tables...an individualized desk is where its at. Luke starts Pre-school and has said several times he doesn't need to go to school...his first day will be an interesting one!!
  • I am signing up for 2 cooking classes.
  • I host my book club in September...any suggestions?? I am drawing a blank...we just read "The Guernsy Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society" Excellent book. I am in the middle of "My Sister's Keeper".
  • I heard on the radio today that we have had 8 months of below average temperatures. EIGHT MONTHS!!
  • I nearly shit my pants when I saw the fees for hockey. Matthew wants to try hockey. God help us all...I could care less if he plays but it is important to his father so here we go to the hockey rink.
  • He also wants to play soccer.
  • And he still loves his TaeKwonDo.
  • We are going to have a busy fall/winter.
  • Luke says he wants to be a Ninja Turtle. Can't find any lessons on that one...
  • My daycare costs are going down. Time to up the RESPs!!
  • I am the swim co-ordinator for the local triathlon club. All the times and days are set and we have a brand new, world class pool to look forward to this fall!! It is supposed to be one of the fastest pools in the world and has all of the latest technology. Can't WAIT to try it out! Just need to find some coaches...and the fees are going up...people are not going to be happy...
  • At work we are busy, busy, busy...lots of interesting stuff going on.
  • I want to shop for a house. A tiny bit bigger house. I don't need much but we are rapidly growing out of our house. But I want to stay in the area...it is an older area of town with lots of character...do we put money into this house or do we move? I hate moving.
  • Thinking of taking a winter holiday. To where? When?
  • My brain is full from my meeting this morning...the new CPP rules...doing the math on when client should start their CPP...oh the fun times.

In order.
I told my parents and teachers for years I didn't want, or need to go to school, and I hated every minute of it. You might need to take some extra steps to help him find the fun, and make sure he's involved.

Our book club just read My Sister's Keeper too. We loved it, and thought the mom was a monster. Our next book is the sequel to Pride and Prejudice. It's called The Independence of Mary Bennet, by Colleen what'shernose that did the Thornbirds.

Hockey is an expensive thing to 'try'. Here's hoping he doesn't like it.

I would totally take swim lessons from you, in your new facility.

Just on the assumption that selling your husband and/or your children is not part of the solution set to getting more space in the house, I'd take a really, really good look at renovating. You probably wouldn't be happy moving to some soul-destroying corporate profit centre subdivision. There's lots of good contractors looking for work.

Funny you mention the financial planning stuff, our planner called Linda today, and wants to chat. We'll probably feed her dinner and a case of wine. I wish I had more money to give her.

1)My little brothers first day of school you could hear him calling "chucky, chucky"....I was in grade 11 and succenly very poplular with the girls, didn't last long.
2)What cooking classes are you taking?
3)I am reading "The long run" by Leo Furey
4) And they say the "experts" are puzzled as to why it has been so cold....could it be that they are wrong with what is actually happening?
5)Ohoh...i feel sorry for hockey parents....and wait till you add in travel and hotels for tournaments!!
6)I think you could teach him to be a ninja turtle
7) Good thing day care costs are going down...re# 5!
8) I agree with keith, renovate
9) Winter holiday....ANYWHERE!!!!
10) funny how meetings do that to the brain!!

You will accompolish it all kelly as you always do!!

I can help you out with one solution -- you can take a winter holiday ANYTIME since we've never really had summer yet! AAARRRGGGHH!!

I got chills reading about the hockey thing too -- I have a friend who refuses to let her sons join hockey because of the huge time/$$$ commitment.

Very exciting news about the new rec facility!!! I'm sadly counting down the days to where I'll have to start the long 9 month commute to Pincher Creek...our outdoor pool closes at the end of August. Sigh.

You do too have a lot going on!!!!! Wow, that's a lot of exciting stuff.

Sidenote: I have the "Guernsy Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society" on my nightstand ready to read...glad it's a good book.
