I am officially now navigating the system as someone who has had a vehicle stolen.
Sucks.
I have been asked lots and lots of questions...to the point where I am wondering if I am the criminal? Seriously.
Are you positive the vehicle would not have been re-possesed?
Who else drove the vehicle?
Do you have any suspects?
Are you sure you did not lend it out to someone and forgot? (Wha?)
At one point on the phone with the adjuster yesterday I actually said "Look...I have being paying insurance premiums for 20 years. I have never once made a claim...you have my authorization to look at my records. This is WHY I pay those premiums...for when bad things happen!!"
Get a grip!! I know...I know....they are doing their job...but really...
I have also officially started back into my training regime. I did a bike ride on Monday...a P90X workout Monday night...a solid run Tuesday...before I noticed I HAD NO TRUCK!!! At least I had a good run...
Talked to Coach Justin yesterday and he reminded me I have a half marathon coming up in a few weeks AND a 100km bike ride the weekend after. No problem. He keeps also reminding me we should be building on this fitness and not letting it go so next year is a great one!! Okay...Okay...I am officially back on the training wagon!!

No. They aren't doing the job. They are trying to annoy you into dropping out of the game. Somewhere along the line insurance companies got the idea that actually paying out money was bad for profits and that screwing over the people paying into the system was good for profits. I think of it as the American disease.
My sister in law had to deal with a particularly vile version of this after their house partially burned down. Sample question - how do you know your son wasn't smoking in bed?
She was implacably polite, documenting everything up one side and down the other, never forgetting anything that any of their weasels said, pointing out every contradiction, every mistake, and every stupid question. I think her fave questions was - 'that information is in the case file, have you read it? If your copy is missing that page, I'll fax you everything right now, what's your fax number?'
In any dealings with officaldom assholes, turn it around so that you're the one asking the questions.
