I AM SO EXCITED TO DO THIS HALF IRONMAN!!!
Have you seen the video on the website showing some of the course? I had butterflies watching it. I am excited to the point where I am pretty sure I am annoying. I went into the local running store on my way home from work to pick up some stuff and stopped to talk to one of the local tri-guys as I thought I should be polite. I don't often talk to him as I find him quite negative and a bit of a complainer. Maybe it's just his manner? Maybe it's just me? He is also signed up for Calgary. But when I do talk to him I always put on my happiest face and whatever he says I have something completely opposite and positive to say. The conversation went like this:
NegGuy: I hope its not windy in Calgary.
Me: Really? I hope the wind howls as that's all we have trained in!!
NegGuy: I don't like swimming in whitecaps.
Me: Really? I hope that water is crazy wild..i love swiming in rough water!!
NegGuy: There's SO many people entered.
Me: Awesome!! It's going to be a fun day!!
....too bad he has such a crappy attitude. Just imagine what life could be like if he had some positive thoughts. If you don't like a challenge, you should not be in this sport. I had to bail out of the store P...D...Q. Then, on my way out the door, I run into Mr. Grumpy Pants. I ignore Mr. Grumpy Pants as he was not a very nice person to me last summer. I ain't some fake who pretends to forget how mean people can be. Jeepers. I almost got a headache from just being there!
Anyway, back to some regular programming...I missed my swim (again) today. Not that worried about it as sleep is sometimes more important. Tomorow is going to be bitchin hot. Hot as a snake's ass in a wagon rut...I have never really understood that one, but say it all the time...and I will be on my bike. Looking forward to it!!

Just watched the video. Lots of good stuff there. I note that the Grey Eagles Casino is at least 3 Km from where T2 is going to be. I'm going to have to think about logistics very carefully.
Negative people are a blight on the earth, wastes of skin and air, especially hot air which can be a valuable industrial commodity. I don't be around negative people. I've left jobs because of that. I tell them I don't want to hear it if I happen to be around them.
That's not to say that discussion of negative points makes you negative. For this race, it's very reasonable to discuss water temperature, potential wind conditions, and pavement conditions, for example. These things can have an impact on how a person prepares for the race.
But to say they hope it's not windy. What a stupid thing to say! This isn't Lethbridge or Crowsnest pass, but it's likely to be windy. Deal with it. On this course, windy is a good thing, since you're likely to be going down wind most of the day. And SO many people entered!! Well excuse me for taking up space in your race. Race, other people to compete with, get it?? What a jerk he is.
I HATE negative people. As soon as I hear someone whining about the wind, temperature, whatever, I tune out, and make an excuse to get outta there.
If I'm the one that's whining, I expect my friends to knock me on the head. :)
I am so excited for you, Kelly!! :) :)
