that dang front tire again!

Jumped on the bike today and was hoping to get a couple of hours in. Started from the drive in and headed down highway 5. Something told me to turn around at the church and head back to the car. It was windy and hot and tons of traffic on a Saturday morning. Got to the top of the last hill and went to shift gears and my chain came off. Got off the bike to deal with that and noticed my front tire was really low....like really, really low. Hobbled down that last big hill, riding my brakes the entire time...was surprised I didn't see smoke coming off of them!! But it beat walking my bike in the ditch with my bike shoes on. Made it to the car and home...only got about 40 minutes in. Oops.
This afternoon has been spent switching tires and tubes and fooling around with the bike. Just tinkering to see how things really work, what happens when I do this and that, swearing at my back tire trying to get in on and off.
My bike is old and crabby sometimes. It knows what it likes and I have learned how to deal with it....kind of like my children. Matthew (5) when he has water will only drink it if it is ice cold...will not touch juice or pop...not a bad thing, but I can't always get my hands on super cold water!! Luke (2) will only let his dad put him to bed and insists on sitting at the head of the table...will not sit anywhere else. He also will only wear his bike helmet, backwards and has recently taken to wearing his winter boots, everywhere.
I have learned patience and when to pick my battles!!

You have to take pics of him wearing his helmet backwards and the winter boots as well -- those moments are priceless and should be documented for future bribery... LOL!!!
